White Rabbit Red Rabbit: inside the experimental play

What’s scarier than a zombie apocalypse? If you ask The Walking Dead actor Xander Berkeley, he might say his latest project, the play White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Berkeley and actress Sarah Clarke (24, Twilight) will be performing the highly experimental play for Amphibian Stage Productions at the Modern Museum of Fort Worth, Wed, March 22 and Thur, March 23.

It’s impossible to explain what the play is about because it is veiled in secrecy. The actor does not see the script until the day he or she walks on the stage to perform it. And each night, a different actor is showcased.

The play is by Iranian playwright, Nassim Soleimanpour. Soleimanpour instructs the actors not to see or read the play beforehand. This gives the actor permission to use their improvisational skills, instinct and years of training to take this journey.

Amphibian Stage Productions artistic director Kathleen Culebro talks about White Rabbit Red Rabbit, how she discovered the play and why she brought in Berkeley and Clarke:

Actor Xander Berkeley will be performing the play opening night (March 22) and discusses what it means for him as an artist to participate in this experimental production.

Actress Sarah Clarke talks about she overcame her fears through acting. Clarke will be performing the play Thursday night (March 23).
